Barley Flakes
Barely flakes are the barley version of rolled oats and can be cooked up like oatmeal to make a simple, healthy and yummy hot cereal. Prepare barley flakes with hot water or milk for a hot and savory barley porridge. Makes a naturally low-fat, high iron meal.
To cook, bring 3 cups water and ½ teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 1 cup barley flakes and reduce heat. Cover and cook for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand for two minutes, then serve with milk and honey
