A beautifully sweet alternative to white or brown sugar, coconut sugar is traditionally hand-harvested from the nectar of coconut palm blossoms. It’s an environmentally friendly alternative as well - Coconut Palms use a much lesser amount of water and soil nutrients required by sugar cane and produces much more of the finished product. Glittery and golden, the colour of coconut sugar is natural and boasts a scrumptious toffee flavour and honey-like scent. Gorgeous in hot teas, raw food desserts and bars, savoury dishes, homemade baked goods or sprinkled on your morning porridge.
You can sub in coconut sugar for any recipe that calls for white sugar or rapadura sugar. This makes it suitable for sauces, baked goods, raw energy balls, marinades and even curries. It is equally good sprinkled straight on desserts, breakfast cereals and porridges, or turn it into a syrup for your creations.
